1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a great option for those looking for a an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the dust bin when it is full.
Both robots are adept at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they're excellent at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart maps of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However, unlike the i7+ and other top rated robots we test, the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could be stuck on things like socks or power cords and may have issues navigating across surface transitions like hardwood to rug.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas that the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, and include getting rid of any clutter or toys it might encounter. It's also recommended to keep the bin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station, and it automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station's external dustbin. It then continues cleaning from where it started. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of constant usage. It takes 3 hours to charge.
2. Roomba from iRobot
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is equipped with the most recent features. It's self-charging and self-navigating, but the most significant feature is its self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or voice.
In our tests the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our second-placed model which was the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surfaces types including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin, which eliminates major sources of maintenance and lowers the cost of recurring maintenance.
We were also amazed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session and move around the room, and even vacuum a specific space. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. When connected to these services, we were able use the i7+'s voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car that is amidst a sea of vacuums powered by cordless that resemble minivans and buses. It's got the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in most households and can fit in well next to a coffee table or on the bookshelf, where you can move it around like a magic wand.
The V10 is powered by seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries, which produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels cleaner air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and collect large particles or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes to suit the task being performed. It quickly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum and back.
This model also has docks that charge to 100% in 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments as well as a Wand clip. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons models, that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its short run time. The claims of its marketing that it can provide up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading as CR's tests have shown. This is a common battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. It's enough time to sweep the average-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every spot. (A second time generally works). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is significantly better for carpet floors with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of iRobot's most popular robot vacuums The 694 is an affordable model that's a great choice for people who don't want to invest too much on a robotic. It was able to remove most types of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area multiple times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front end helps it reach into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice feature.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the mapping capability of more advanced models like our top selections such as the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. Because of this, it can sometimes get stuck on things like phone cords and low furniture, and it frequently will run out of battery before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 in that it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, incurs lower recurring cost, is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is better able to navigate its own. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.
The elegant RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for a variety of reasons, since it has a longer battery life, the ability to change the suction power mode by hand and has physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built and has a more powerful motor, and performs notably better on bare floors and carpets with a low pile, as well as offering a wider range of features for automation.

It didn't do very well in avoiding taller items like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we tested, which might be a deal-breaker for some shoppers.

Plus, you can monitor the status of the vacuum's battery and then return it to its dock to charge at the touch of one button. The app allows you to personalize the LED lights on top of the vacuum with different colors so you can easily identify what areas it's focusing on or where it's got stuck.
